STUDENT HIT THE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL WITH A HEAVY METAL IN ALAKETU HIGH SCHOOL

Immediately the students of Alaketu Community High School in Imeko Afon local government finished their Yoruba paper in the just concluded first term examination they started playing football in some of the classes which resulted in the destruction of some ceilings in the classrooms. The principal of the school Mr Wale Ojo inspected the classrooms and saw the extent of damage by the students, he took the pictures of the damaged classes and noted them down in his report .
On Wednesday 4th of December, 2024, the school principal counselled the students to stay off the school premises so as to avoid their unrully behavior stressing that only the SS3 students who may commence their WAEC capturing exercises should be coming to the school premises. However, on Thursday , the students arrived very early in the school premises and were accompanied by students of Nazareth High School, Imeko and Muslim High School, Imeko, they started their unruly behavior by throwing bangers everywhere within the school environment, the school principal sensing danger quickly contacted some members of a paramilitary group called Cadet Officers to come to his rescue, the principal in the company of two of the Cadet Officers arrested two students each from Nazareth High School and Muslim High School respectively .

While this was ongoing one of the Cadet Officers also got hold of another student of Nazareth High School, Imeko making a total of five arrests, it was at that point that a student of Alaketu Community High School beckoned on some other students who all bombarded the Cadet Officers thereby wounding him severely but in all these fracas the officer still held unto the student of Alaketu High School despite all the injuries he sustained, the officers contacted their office for more officers hence all these five students were moved to the Police Station while the injured officer also made himself available at the station to show himself to the police authorities. On their way to the police station another students was also arrested making a total of six students.

It was at the Imeko police station while they were waiting for the policemen who were busy holding an Area Command meeting that one of the students made attempt to escape but Mr Wale Ojo the principal, Alaketu High School blocked the way to prevent him from doing so, this made the boy to hit the principal with a heavy rod which made the principal to become unconscious .

According to Mr Ojo while speaking with our reporter , he said ‘ I became unconscious for a period of time after which I opened my eyes to discover I was at Imeko Police Headquarters from there the police quickly moved me to the General hospital , Imeko where I received treatment ‘

Speaking to our reporter Comrade Dr Felix Agbesanwa the State Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools in Ogun State described the news as not only shocking but disturbing and nauseating, it is now becoming increasingly difficult and dangerous to be a teacher in the same Gateway State that prides itself as the bedrock of academic in Nigeria and the home of the likes of Obafemi Awolowo, Tai Solarin and Prof. Wole Soyinka, I will not open my eyes and allow all these untrained and uncultured students maim and physically damage our members, an injury to one teacher in any part of Ogun State is also and injury to all our dear colleagues across the state ‘

In a call that our reporter put through to the State ANCOPSS Chairman Mr Edward Adekoya he said ‘ when i heard this disturbing news yesterday i became very worried while asking myself why do we have all these happening in our schools across the state lately ? I am deeply worried about the safety of our school administrators across our schools in the state because cases like this is not only becoming embarrassing but disgusting, why should our pupils be tormenting teachers and school administrators from time to time ? sincerely speaking i am not happy’
