Punishing students can lead to even more challenging behaviour. It’s a cycle that’s hard to break.

Sometimes, bad behaviour will justify an exclusion, but you should keep this to a minimum. Make this type of classroom behaviour management an exception, not the rule.

There’s no need to be soft as a brush, but students don’t want Mrs Trunchbull for a teacher either!

Stay calm, trust your instincts, and you can break the cycle.
